My reading list for the month of September.
Trouble Brewing by Walker Rose
I received a copy of Trouble Brewing by Walker Rose from NetGalley. This book is an enemies to lovers Western romance set in North Dakota. It follows Calder, who lives in the city but is back to sell his family’s brew and ranch; Meredith is the one running his father’s business. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a Western or Cowboy romance book, so I am excited. It seems like a book I will enjoy over the weekend to unwind; I look forward to it.
The Doll’s House by Katherine Mansfield
The Doll’s House by Katherine Mansfield is a short story set in colonial New Zealand. The wealthy Burnell sisters Isabel, Lottie and Kezia are gifted a beautifully detailed dollhouse by a family guest. This dollhouse gives them a status symbol at the school, and the sisters are allowed to invite their classmates to see it in a group of 2. However, two local girls, Lil and Else, are excluded, making them the outcasts of the social hierarchy.
Looking For Alaska by John Green
Looking For Alaska by John Green is a YA book. I read this book years ago, but I am a little hazy on the details now, so I plan to re-read it. The story follows Miles ‘Pudge’ Halter as he transfers to a boarding school. He is in search of the deeper meaning of life and hopes the new environment will help him find the “Great Perhaps”. This school is where he meets a troubled but intriguing Alaska Young and falls in love with her. I know John Green’s books are emotionally heavy, but I think I’ll enjoy reading this one again.
