Masquerade of Mirrors by Samantha Hartwood
I received a copy of Masquerade of Mirrors by Samantha Hartwood from NetGalley. This fantasy romance book is the first of the series, Halls of Glass. The story follows Taera, who has untamed magic. One day, she is kidnapped by Nikolai and dragged into the dunes. He says she needs to be trained if she wants to see her family again. The book has very dark academia vibes with fantasy elements, so I am intrigued by it.
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde has been on my reading list for years. I have enjoyed stories written by Wilde before, so I am very keen to finally start this one. The story revolved around a portrait of Dorian Gray by an artist infatuated with Dorian’s beauty. Dorian is taken by an aristocrat’s hedonistic worldview and impulsively decides to sell his soul. In return, he wishes for immortality, never aging, while his portrait can fade and age instead of him.
The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a short story part of the Sherlock Holmes collection. I have read a couple of these short stories in no particular order, but I loved the BBC series too. Three important submarine plans have gone missing, and Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s brother, needs his help to recover the papers. I think this story was maybe adapted for the series because it sounds familiar, but I am excited to read it either way.
