My reading list for the month of May.

Sea of Evil and Desire by J. Střelou.

I received a copy of Sea of Evil and Desire by J. Střelou from NetGalley. This book is a dark fantasy romance set in a seaside town in Scotland. It follows the story of Morgana Scott, who has always felt out of place due to her ability to sense other people’s feelings. She moves to Ruadan’s Port on Scotland’s Isle of Islay after the sudden death of her grandmother. Here she meets Finn, a dark yet magnetic man. She discovers a whole new world underwater and is drawn into an ancient feud. I am intrigued by the underwater fantasy world mixed with romance elements; it seems promising.

King Arthur by Joseph Comyns Carr.

King Arthur by Joseph Comyns Carr is a four-act play, which was first produced in 1895. The play follows the story of King Arthur from his early days to the final battle. Each act explores a different period of his life. I found this play quite randomly, and found it very interesting. I never really delved into the complete story of King Arthur; I know just the parts of it. So, I am excited to read this one.

A Commonplace Killing by Siân Busby.

A Commonplace Killing by Siân Busby is a historical and psychological thriller set during the post-World War II period in England. The story begins in July 1946, when two schoolboys find a woman’s body in a bombed-out site in London. It seems to be a straightforward case; the police assume it’s a random sexual assault until evidence suggests that’s not the case. I don’t usually read thrillers, especially crime thrillers, but I found this book at a pre-loved books sale and thought it was interesting. I am excited to read it.
