My reading list for the month of April.
- Agustina de Aragón by Gail Meath.
I received a copy of Agustina de Aragón by Gail Meath from NetGalley. The story is a historical novel set in Spain in 1803 during tumultuous times. It is based on a true event of Napoleon Bonaparte’s effort to invade Spain. This book is not just about the war, but it is also a love story of Agustina and Juan Roca. The blurb of the book is very interesting, and I can’t wait to finally read it.
2. The Last Leaf by O’Henry
The Last Leaf by O’Henry is one of my favorite short stories. I read it years ago, but now I can’t remember it too well. Hence, re-reading it. The story is set in Greenwich Village, New York City, during the pneumonia epidemic. A young artist falls sick and is dying. She is saved by an older artist who gives her hope through his art. I am so excited to read this story again.
3. The Ugly Sister by Jane Fallon.
Jane Fallon is a new author for me. I haven’t read any of her works before. The Ugly sister follows the two sisters, mainly Abi and Cleo. Discovered on the street and shot to success Cleo and Abi barely have a relationship. Twenty years later, Abi decided to accept an invitation from Cleo to spend a summer with her sister in the plush Primrose Hill and have quality family time. Once Abi gets there, things don’t go according to her plans. I am a few pages in, and so far, so good.
