My reading list for this month.
- A Man of the People by Chinua Achebe.
A Man of the People by Chinua Achebe is set in an unnamed country in Africa. It is a political satire type of novel. It focuses on a former teacher Odili, who enters politics and the challenges he faces. The scenarios in the novel are said to be loosely based on real-life events in Nigeria, which is Achebe’s native place. It seems promising so far.
2. A New York Secret (Daughters of New York #1) by Ella Carey.
I got this novel, A New York Secret by Ella Carey for review from NetGalley. This novel is set during World War II. In 1942, as war rages in Europe, Lily Rose is planning her future in New York with Tom Morelli, he is the son of immigrant parents. Everything changes when Tom is drafted to fight in Italy. Lily has to make a choice between staying with her family or leaving with the love of her life. This historical fiction story has an intriguing premise, and it started off well.
3. A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks.
A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks is a love story that was published back in 2001. This book has been on my reading list for a while. The story follows Miles Ryan, a father, and a widower; he falls for Sarah Andrews, a teacher who is new to town after going through a difficult divorce. I am only a couple of chapters in right now, and the story is keeping me hooked.
