Wretched Mage by Juliana Pinheiro
I received a copy of the book Wretched Mage by Juliana Pinheiro from NetGalley. This book is a fantasy romance that is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The story follows a human merchant, Jane Darling, who accidentally crosses into the Mage territory. She is sentenced to remain in the custody of Mage Lord of Mountheim, Reagan. Jane is trapped in an unknown territory amongst powerful strangers and starts to feel drawn to Reagan.
The Law of Life by Jack London
The Law of Life is a short story written by Jack London. I enjoyed reading The Call of the Wild, so I randomly picked another story by the same author. The story explores the inevitability of death as well as nature’s indifference to the individual. It does seem like a bleak topic to read about, but let’s see how it goes.
