My reading list for the month of May.
The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent.
I received a copy of The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent from NetGalley. This book is a fantasy romance book, which is the third book of the Crown of Nyaxia series. The story focuses on Mische, who was forcibly turned into a vampire and is being punished for the murder of a vampire prince. Asar, a bastard prince of the House of Shadow, saves her at the execution. Now, Asar is taking Mische to the underworld because he needs her help. I haven’t read the first two books, but I know this can be read as a standalone. I am extremely intrigued by the story, and I am excited to read it.
The Unwanted Marriage by Catharina Maura
The Unwanted Marriage by Catharina Maura is the third book of the Windsors Series. This is a romance book with the marriage of convenience trope. This story follows Dion Windsor and Faye, who have been engaged, according to Dion’s grandmother’s wish for years. Faye is the last person Dion wants to be around, but when he sees her with another guy, he doesn’t like it. As their wedding date comes closer, so do Faye and Dion, but their past is complicated. I have read the first two books of this series, and this couple made me curious about their dynamic. I can’t wait to read this book.
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a short story. It follows the character of Louise Mallard, a lady who is suffering from heart disease. Her sister, Josephine, informs Louise about the death of her husband in a railroad accident. The story takes place between the time Louise finds out about her husband’s death and the time her husband returns home.
