Book Review: Twisted Lies (Ana Huang).

Twisted Lies by Ana Huang is a contemporary romance novel. This book is the last of the Twisted Series. I loved reading the three other books, and I was excited to finally read Twisted Lies. The story follows Stella, an influencer, who also works at a fashion magazine, and Christian Harper, a security agency owner. Stella and Christian live in the same building, and he is her landlord.

Stella and Christian have both been introduced in Twisted Love itself, but there wasn’t a lot of character development for them. I think this kind of slow build-up really helped me understand their story. Christian is extremely intelligent, but he is also calculative and has questionable morals. Stella is ambitious about following her life goals and is essentially working two jobs. Her family life is messy. Her job at the fashion magazine comes with a toxic boss. Stella and Christian are both passionate about what they do, it is important to them.

A business dinner brings Stella and Christian closer, and certain circumstances lead them to start fake dating. Meanwhile, Stella has a stalker which was hinted at in Twisted Hate, but now events are escalating. Christian is protective of Stella and moves her into his apartment for security purposes. Christian and Stella start coming closer and clicking. There is chemistry between them from the start, and it begins to boil over. Their romance is an equal measure of passionate, spicy, and emotional connection, which I really liked. The fake dating trope in romance books is not my favorite, but Ana Huang has done it justice in Twisted Lies.

Christian is such an elusive character. Stella, who is an influencer is used to sharing her life not completely personal but still. Christian is much difficult to make sense of especially at the start. It is clear that he is fascinated with Stella from the day she moves into his building, but he waits to make his move. Once he starts opening up, you get a better idea of why he is the way he is and his past was more disturbing than I had thought it would be. He knows how he is and he tries to be better for Stella. Stella is compassionate and open; she feels safe around Christian that’s why their final conflict is understandable. Stella and Christian have a really cute, yet spicy romance, and they make sense as a couple.

Twisted Lies brings Ana Huang’s Twisted series to a close. I have enjoyed reading all four books; they were different than each other in a few ways. I really liked Christian’s character arc in this book, he is such an interesting character. Stella and Christian’s story kept me hooked from the start and I had fun reading it. I am keen to explore Ana Huang’s other books in the future.
