Currently Reading (June ’24).

My reading list for the month of June.

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven.

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven is a Young Adult book about two teenagers in high school, Libby Strout and Jack Masselin. Libby and Jack come together after they are forced to take part in community service and counseling after some unpleasantness in school. Jennifer Niven’s books are always high on emotions, even though they don’t seem like it. After I read and loved, All The Bright Places, I can’t wait to dive into this book.

A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole.

A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole is a Young Adult romance book. The story focuses on Rune and Poppy, who become friends as kids when Rune moves next door. When Rune has to move back to Norway, he and Poppy promise to stay in touch. The silence from Poppy breaks his heart. They come face to face again. I have read a couple of Tillie Cole books before, so I am familiar with the writing style. It’s been a while since I have read young adult romances. Now I am going to read two a month.

Typhoon by Joseph Conrad.

Typhoon by Joseph Conrad is an adventure novella. I haven’t read Joseph Conrad properly. Typhoon is loosely based on Conrad’s sea life experiences. The story follows a steamship and its crew, and they run in with a tropical cyclone. I am not sure what to expect from Conrad’s writing because I haven’t read much of his work, and adventure is not a genre I read a lot. I am excited to read it.
