My reading list for the month of April.
The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers.
I received a copy of The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers from NetGalley. This fantasy novel follows the character of Violet Everly. The Everly family has suffered from a curse for centuries. Violet embarks on a journey into the magical underworld to try and put an end to the curse on her family. The premise of the book intrigued me with a mix of fantasy, adventure, and romance. I can’t wait to start reading it.
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton.
Ethan Frome is a novel written by Edith Wharton. The story follows a tragic story of a man who falls in love with his wife’s cousin. The story focuses on forbidden feelings, despair, and a love triangle at its center. The story is set in the New England countryside. I have read The Aage of Innocence by Wharton, so I am slightly familiar with the writing style. I expect this book to be high on emotions. It’s been on my reading list for years. I am glad to have finally started reading it.
The Fly by Katherine Mansfield.
The Fly is a short story written by Katherine Mansfield. The story follows the death of a soldier in World War I. I haven’t read any of Mansfield’s work, so I am unsure what to expect in terms of writing. Although, it seems like the story will focus on themes of loss and grief, given the context of death. The historical fiction sort of aspect drew me to pick this story.
