Book Review: Court of Claws (Briar Boleyn). #NetGalley #CourtofClaws

I received a copy of the Court of Claws by Briar Boleyn from NetGalley. This book is the second book of the Blood of the Fae series. I loved reading the first book, so I couldn’t wait to start reading Court of Claws. This Arthurian fantasy and dark romance retelling with Fae continues the story of Morgan and Kairos Draven from where it was left off in the Queen of Roses.

In the first book, Draven makes a deal to save Morgan’s life and bring her back to his Kingdom. Morgan is unsure about how to deal with the reality of who Draven is, making her question his motives. Draven is a Siabra Fae and the Prince of the Court of Umbral Flames or Court of Claws. They do reach an agreement. They decide to be in a fake relationship until Draven can win back his crown. The Court of Claws is a difficult place to feel comfortable in, and Morgan struggles with it. She is drawn more and more to Draven, which she constantly tries to resist.

There was a lot about Draven that we didn’t know in the first book, and slowly, you get a perspective into his character. He is someone who has been driven by guilt and pain, which kept him away from his Court. Morgan starts to see a different side to him, and she likes it. Their chemistry in this book is notched up with a lot more romance. Morgan begins to learn about the fae world with Draven and comes into her own power. She is worried about Camelot too. This book has doubled everything up from the first book. The enemies to lovers romance, the action, and this world of Fae.

In this book, we get to explore the fantasy world of Fae. Everything is new for us as it is for Morgan, so it gives a new perspective. The contest to win the crown is described well and reminded me a little of The Hunger Games. Draven’s past unfolds in this book, which gives you plenty of insights into his motivation behind his actions. Draven clearly has accepted his feelings for Morgan, but she is unsure. Yet they are unable to deny this attraction and the yearning they feel for each other. Their relationship helps them become stronger individuals in a way. I love how their relationship seems to develop naturally.

Court of Claws by Briar Boleyn continues the story of Morgan and Draven in the best way possible. We get to see these characters grow and start to flourish individually. This book has lots of romance and plenty of fantasy elements blended extremely well with the action. I can’t wait to see how Morgan and Draven’s story moves forward in the next book.
