My reading list for the month of November.
Epic of Helinthia by M. J. Pankey.
I received Epic of Helinthia by M. J. Pankey from NetGalley. This book was on my reading list last month, and I did start reading this, but I got sidetracked by other books and didn’t end up finishing it. So, I am going to read it this month. The book is very interesting with its Ancient Greece setting. I like it so far. The story follows Dargos, who believes that the decay of the island of Helinthia is a punishment from the Gids because a madman sits on the throne. He forms a group in hopes of starting a rebellion to overthrow the king and restore the island.
The End of Something by Ernest Hemingway.
The End of Something by Ernest Hemingway is a short story. I am a fan of Hemingway’s writing with A Farewell to Arms being one of my all-time favorite books. Although, this short story is a discovery for me as I was not aware of this short story or collection at all. It is a part of a collection of three stories about one character, Nick Adams, and The End of Something is the third story. I wonder if I should read the other two or if it is a standalone. I guess I will find out once I read it.
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls #1) by Deborah Harkness.
I found the series A Discovery of Witches and binge-watched it. Now, I want to read all three books the series is based on written by Deborah Harkness. The story follows Diana and Matthew, who live in a world where creatures like witches, vampires, and demons live amongst humans, but are slowly dying out. Diana is a powerful witch, but her power is still unpredictable. Matthew is a vampire who has been around for centuries. The book is a mixture of romance, suspense, fantasy, and adventure. I am very excited to read it.
