My reading list for the month of September.
Never A Hero by Vanessa Len.
Never A Hero by Vanessa Len is the sequel to her fantasy novel Only A Monster, a book that I loved reading. I was so excited when I received a copy from NetGalley for review. The story of Never A Hero begins a new chapter in Joan’s life. She is the only one who remembers what happened. Nick doesn’t know who she is, and Aaron thinks of her as his enemy. Once again, Joan finds herself a fugitive in the monster world with Nick as Aaron closes in on them. I cannot wait to start reading this book.
The Cats of Ulthar by H. P. Lovecraft.
I have never explored the works of H. P. Lovecraft, even though I have heard a lot about his works. I thought the best way to delve into classic authors is through a short story. The Cats of Ulthar is a short story that I chose to read on the basis of its title. I think the title is interesting. The story follows an unnamed narrator who reminisces about how the law forbidding the killing of cats came into being in a town called Ulthar.
A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair.
A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair is a Greek Mythology retelling of Hades and Persephone. I have always been intrigued by Mythological stories, and this one looked fascinating. The story follows the Goddess of Spring, Persephone, and Hades, the King of the Underworld, set in the modern times with few changes. A chance encounter with Hades leaves Persephone in a contract with him where if she loses, she has to give up her freedom. I haven’t read many stories that are retellings of Greek Mythology, so I am extremely intrigued by this one.
